Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Vehicle Requirements?

  • You can bring any type of road or racecar.
  • All cars must be either Road Legal (with current WOF) or a Race Car capable of passing motorsport scrutineering.

What are the Driver Requirements?

  • 100% Cotton or fire proof overalls (Can be hired on the day)
  • A crash helmet in good condition (Can be hired on the day)
  • Shoes (not sandals or jandals)
  • A New Zealand Full Drivers License (or a Motorsport license)
  • We also recommend cotton shirt, underclothes and socks (for fire safety).

How are the sessions controlled?

Cars go onto the track at approximately 5-second intervals for a 12 – 15 minute session then return to the pits. You drive at the speed you feel safe at. We limit entries so there are no more than 4 groups and it is common for people to cover 100 to 200kms or more on track that day. (The record is 328kms in one day!)

What are the Passing Rules?

This is not a race meeting and no cars should ever contact so we have strict passing rules. Passing can only be done under acceleration, so no passing under braking is allowed. If a car catches you we ask you let it pass or if it is slower on the straights get it to move ahead of you in the queue for the next set of laps.

Is it safe?

Track Days are completely non-competitive and there’s definitely no contact. (any contact means both cars go home – so it just doesn’t happen) Go as fast as you feel safe.

Is the driver/vehicle insured?

Generally no, however that will depend on the persons own insurance. Just like on the road, if you drive sensibly you won’t crash.

How is the day run?

The day starts with registration where we will check your documentation and license, this is followed by a briefing which all participants MUST attend. If you miss this, contact one of the organisers for a private briefing as soon as it can be arranged. Next, the track is opened for some familiarisation laps. These are low speed laps where passengers are allowed in all cars and the purpose is for you to get to know the track. Then the fun begins!! Cars enter the track in groups at timed intervals. You choose the speed group you want to be in and can change groups during the day if you wish.
We are normally on the track from approx 10.00am to 4.30pm and you can stop and have lunch etc when you wish.

What if I have paid and can't go?

Refund Policy

The LAST thing we want is unhappy customers, so we’re happy to give a full refund on purchases as long as the following conditions are met:

  • We must receive the cancellation within 28 days of the purchase date.
  • We can only give a refund if a date has not been chosen and confirmed. After a date is chosen and we confirm the date with the experience provider, you are bound by their refund policy. Because they need to hire circuits and other resources, generally they can’t change or cancel a booking once confirmed.

What if I'm too slow and faster drivers get annoyed with me?

Passing is allowed on straights under acceleration only, so there’s plenty of safe opportunities for other drivers to pass. Please remember these are not race events, or even race practice events; everyone’s just out there to have fun. We encourage drivers to group themselves with similar performance cars, fastest first.

What if it rains?

The day will continue rain, hail or shine.

Passenger Rules

Passengers are only allowed in cars with a Motorsport approved roll cage & a 4,5 or 6 point Harness. This is a Motorsport NZ rule.
The only exception is on the familiarization laps.

What other information do I need to know?

No Alcohol is to be consumed by anyone attending before or during the event. No young children or animals are allowed at the Pit Lane (Motorsport rule we must obey)
